Eureka Smart Glove is an innovative product designed to empower visually impaired people who live alone. The problem it seeks to solve is straightforward, yet pervasive: for individuals who are blind, locating everyday items can be a time-consuming process. The smart glove’s objective is to significantly improve the efficiency of this retrieval process. The Eureka Smart Glove is more than just a practical tool, it represents the potential of technology to reshape lives and create a more equitable society.

The concept of the glove is distinguished by its practical approach to addressing everyday challenges faced by blind people. It uses Bluetooth to locate electric tags in the system, and then it provides users with location information via haptic feedback generated by low frequency electric stimulation. Users are advised to pre-attach electronic tags to frequently used items. These tags act as beacons, broadcasting their position to the glove. When the wearer is looking for something specific, they can activate the glove, which will then communicate with the corresponding tag.

The Eureka Smart Glove is equipped with a system that delivers low-frequency electric stimulation to the hand. This stimulation varies according to the direction and distance of the target item, providing blind individuals with a sense of location that is otherwise unavailable to them. The user can easily determine the direction they need to move in order to reach the item. The glove also provides audio feedback, further aiding in orientation. Through the use of these two in-puts — tactile and auditory — blind individuals can navigate their surroundings and find their belongings with a high level of efficiency and confidence.
