CONNECTION, National Centre for Cultural Study
Architecture, Landscape Architecture
Situated in Gungahlin, the NCCS is an architectural ode to Aboriginal 'oneness.' Rooted in Ngunnawal traditions, the design mirrors the native Kurrajong Flower, interconnecting three functional spaces: a learning realm, cultural stage, and student quarters. Beyond its symbolic design, the project champions eco-sustainability. It integrates native flora and wetland features, combating urban heat and flood issues. In essence, NCCS is more than a building; it's a confluence of cultural reverence and environmental stewardship, poised to redefine sustainable cultural architecture in Australia.
